More than 60 feet long, the mural transforms a boring retaining wall at the border of a parking lot into a work of art.
Created in 1994 by Leslie Ansley and Monique Luck, the mural was funded by a grant from The Sprout Fund, an innovative local nonprofit that encourages talented young creative talent. The mosaic of images includes a few done in an interesting relief technique I've never seen before. I thought of hiding a microcache behind one of the relief images, but hesitated to ask permission to use a work of art in this manner. Waymarking is the perfect solution!
Some of the images include the Jewish Community Clock Tower, and street scenes on busy Murray Avenue and Forbes Avenue. The rich ethnic traditions of the local Asian and Jewish communities are featured prominently.
