This historical marker is part of a series of historical markers located all around Klamath County and commissioned by the Klamath County Historical Society.
Unfortunately, it looks like some vandals have shot at the marker as there are bullet holes in the metal plaque.
The logging camp that existed here must have been quite an operation back in the day because it's named on all online topography maps.
Directions to historical marker: If you're traveling on Hwy 66 towards Ashland OR, the marker is located just off of Hwy 66, on the left side, on a side road called Dixie Rd. There are also a couple of wooden bulletin boards nearby the road turnoff, one of which has a map of the surrounding territory that is open to the public for camping, day use and other recreational activity.
The marker text reads:
WEYREHEAUSER CAMP 4
A LOGGING CAMP LOCATED NEAR LONG PRAIRIE AND MEADOW
1934 - 1954
KLAMATH COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY 1976
*NOTE* 'Weyerhaeuser' is misspelled on the marker. You may visit the official company website to find the correct spelling.
