This "you are here" map is on the north west side of High Street at the junction with Catte Street outside the church of St Mary the Virgin in Oxford.

The map is one of a series that are placed around Oxford to provide the visitor and local with useful information and works in conjunction with the oxfordexplore website.
The map is attached to a tall pillar. Above the map, there are directional pointers to a few local points of interest with symbols, cross-referenced to a legend, to show what facilities are available there.
The map is orientated head-up so, as the map is viewed, anything ahead is above the "you are here" mark and anything behind the observer is below the mark. The map also has a north arrow for those that like to know where it is!
A grid is laid over the map to assist in locating places. The origin of the grid is in the lower left corner with sqaure "A1". The letters run up the side of the map and the number across it.
Icons on the map show where various points of interest are located and these are referenced to a legend below the map. The symbols represent:

Footpaths are shown by dotted white lines; cycle routes with dotted red lines and parks and public spaces as green areas.
Finally, there is a code number to enter into oxfordexplore.com that will give more information and stories about the area around the map. There is a QR code for those that have the ability to scan them.
