"La « Voie des Français », est un réseau de routes et chemins empruntés par les pèlerins venant de « France » pour se rendre à Rome. Cet ensemble de chemins qui reprenait notamment les voies romaines de l'Antiquité et s'enrichissait de nombreuses variantes, traversait les territoires actuels de la France, de la Suisse et de l'Italie.
Ce chemin de pélerinage qui va de Canterbury à Rome retrace la route que suivit Sigéric pour se rendre à Rome en 990 afin d'y rencontrer le pape Jean XV, et recevoir le pallium symbolique de sa nomination d'archevêque de Canterbury. Dans un manuscrit, il décrit les 79 étapes de son voyage de retour, de Rome à Canterbury. 48 étapes en Italie, 7 en Suisse, 24 en France.
Cette ancienne voie médiévale est aujourdhui reconnue comme Grand Itinéraire Culturel du Conseil de l'Europe.
La Via Francigéna passe en France par Calais , Arras, Reims , Chalons-en-Champagne , Bar-sur-Aube , Langres , Besançon et Pontarlier .
En suivant la via Francigena vous traverserez les départements du Pas de Calais, de la Somme, de l'Aisne, de la Marne, de la Haute-marne, de la Haute-saône et du Doubs

Notre but est de participer à l'animation, d'aider au balisage et de participer à l'organisation de l'hospitalité et hébergement au profit de tout pèlerin en marche vers Rome et de faire inscrire celle-ci au Patrimoine mondial de l'Unesco
En parcourant la Via Francigena, vous n'aurez pas seulement la possibilité de découvrir le patrimoine qu'elle traverse. En effet, vous découvrirez et vous goûterez les produits du terroir des villes et des villages qui se trouvent le long de la voie. La via Francigena manque de restaurant et tables d'hôtes proposant "l'assiette du Pèlerin" adaptée au budget et à l'appétit des marcheurs ou des voyageurs."
