Adeline Binion was born on 20 February 1844 to Louis Binion (born in Kentucky) and Roberta Adeline Williams Binion (born in Illinois). She was first married to a man named Jackson. Later, she married David Calton who was just 2 months younger than Adeline. This was also David's second marriage, since his first wife, Malona Pennell Calton had died in 1892.

During the US Civil War, David fought for the Union with Company M of the 8th Missouri Regiment. He died of apoplexy in 1925 and is buried beside his first wife. His second wife, Adeline, continued on another 20 years, passing away on 7 November 1945, during World War II, at over 101 years old.
