Auf dem Wiener Zentralfriedhof befindet sich bei den linken Arkadengrüften (Gruppe AAL) bei Nr. 23 das auffällige Grab von August Zang und dessen Vater Christof Bonifaz Zang. Dieses äußerst opulente Grabmahl wurde im Auftrag von Ludovica Zang (Witwe von August Zang) von Heinrich Natter angefertigt. Im oberen Bereich befindet sich links ein Bronzerelief von August Zang und rechts eines von Christof Bonifaz Zang.
August Zang:
August Zang ging nach Paris und führte dort mit großem Erfolg das Wiener Gebäck ein, speziell das maschinell erzeugte "Kipferl", aus dem in der Folge das Pariser Croissant wurde. Nach der Einführung der Pressefreiheit in Österreich im März 1848 verkaufte Zang sein Pariser Unternehmen und übersiedelte nach Wien. Am 3. Juli 1848 erschien die erste Ausgabe der großformatigen Zeitung Die Presse. Zang war der Herausgeber. 1867 verkaufte Zang die Presse und gründete im gleichen Jahr die "kk privilegierte österreichische Vereinsbank", die er bis 1872 leitete. Bis zu seinem Tod lebte er als äußerst wohlhabender Großgrundbesitzer mit eigenem Palais in der Johannesgasse, dem Schloss Greißenegg bei Voitsberg, Bergwerken etc.

Das Grabmahl wurde aufgrund der Bergwerke, die August Zang besaß, als Bergwerk gestaltet. Der linke Gnom trägt einen Schild mit dem Bergmannsgruß "Glück auf!". Auf den Stufen sitzt ein Jüngling mit gesprengten Ketten in einer Hand (Symbol für die siegreiche Revolution 1848) und in der anderen Hand hält er eine Schrifttafel mit der Inschrift: 'Die Presse'; Motto: Gleiches Recht für alle. Gegründet von August Zang.
Sein Vater Christof Bonifaz war Militärchirurg, arbeitete auf den blutigen Kriegsschauplätzen und und nach Schlacht von Austerlitz wechselte er ins Josephinum, die von Kaiser Josef II. gegründete Akademie für Militärärzte. Im Rahmen seiner Lehrtätigkeit veröffentlichte er auch einige Werke. Auf dem Grabmal weisen das Buch mit der Inschrift: 'Leitfaden für operative Heilkunde von Dr. Christ. Bonif. Zang' und der Äskulapstab auf dem Schild des rechten Gnomen auf den Vater hin.

At the Vienna Zentralfriedhof (Central Cemetery), the conspicuous tomb of August Zang and his father Dr. Christof Bonifaz Zang is found at Nr. 23 of the arcade tombs on the left side (group AAL). This extremely opulent tomb was made by Heinrich Natter on behalf of Ludovica Zang (widow of August Zang).
