Perhaps the rarest Hard Rock guitar since the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino New England does not exist. When Massachusetts expanded casino gambling they set aside one license for western Massachusetts. Several companies actively vied to build the casino. The Hard Rock Cafe proposed to build a hotel and casino on the grounds of the Eastern States Exposition but lost out when MGM won the bid to build the casino in downtown Springfield.
The Hard Rock guitar and pin on display was part of the unsuccessful promotional effort the secure the gambling license. Nonetheless, the Eastern States Exposition retained the memorabilia and put it on display in the lobby opposite the receptionist office.
