This visitor center is underground to reduce cooling costs in the summer. It builds upon a slight hill and adds more earth on top of it. It is also facing east so that it only gets the early morning sun and is in the shade the rest of the day. The roof has a couple of plaques to point out local mountain ranges and the rest is landscaped with native desert plants.
Building options: Public building
