This gravity-fed Fry Visible gas pump is located at the restored 1927 gas station at the South Yuba State Park on Pleasant Vally Road at Bridgeport Crossing. The South Yuba River Park Association obtained and restored this vintage “Visible” gas pump for placement in the 1927 gas station they also restored.
The restored Shell gas station operated from 1927 to 1944. It served travelers traveling the Turnpike or visiting the Kneebone Beach Resort upriver. Gasoline was 12 cents per gallon in 1927. The gas station featured a portico to cover the refueling area, a repair bay, and a small store to sell camping supplies and meats and produce from the Kneebone ranch.
