The Massachusetts Monument stands on the grounds of the Andersonville National Historic Site. It is located near where the North Gate once stood and is near the Ohio Monument (visit link)

The monument is made of Quincy Granite with the top of the monument inscribed with "DEATH BEFORE DISHONOR." On the back of the monument the words "KNOWN DEAD 767" are inscribed.

The front inscription reads:
ERECTED BY THE COMMONWEALTH IN MEMORY OF HER SONS WHO DIED AT ANDERSONVILLE. 1864-1865

The monument was dedicated on December 19, 1901.
