Mann im November, 1974

Er sieht so aus, als sei ihm ständig kalt und klamm. Der „Mann im November“ zieht die Schultern hoch, verbirgt die Hände in den Rocktaschen und schaut ein wenig missmutig in seine Gegenwart. 1974 schuf Waldemar Otto diese Bronzeplastik. Der „Mann im November“ steht seit vielen Jahren in der Osnabrücker Fußgängerzone - als stiller, von manch eilig hastenden Passanten auch übersehener Zeitzeuge.

1979 wurde jedenfalls der „Mann im November“ in Osnabrück angekauft. Zuvor war die Figur schon als Leihgabe des Künstlers und der Galerie Clasing aufgestellt worden. 2001 musste die Figur vorübergehend der Umgestaltung der Fußgängerzone weichen. Der „Mann im November“ wurde in der Kunsthalle untergestellt und gründlich gereinigt. Im Mai 2002 kehrte Ottos Plastik in die City zurück, allerdings an einen etwas veränderten Standort. Die Figur steht jetzt wieder in der Großen Straße, unweit des Nikolaiortes.

He looks like he's always cold and clammy. The "Man in November" pulls up his shoulders, hides his hands in his coat pockets and looks a little morosely into his presence. In 1974, Waldemar Otto created this bronze sculpture. The "man in November" stood in Osnabrück's pedestrian precinct for many years - as a silent, timid man, who is also hastily overlooked by many passers-by.

In 1979, the "Man in November" was bought by Osnabrück. Previously, the figure had already been loaned by the artist. In 2001, the figure had to give way temporarily to the transformation of the pedestrian zone. The "Man in November" was housed in the Kunsthalle and thoroughly cleaned. In May 2002, Otto's plastic returned to the city, but to a slightly different location.
