If somebody liked to have a nice hike with substantially gradients around Altenahr, I recommend this one:
Your starting point is on the big parking bay in Altenahr where one is reminded of Henry Allewohl.
Go across the bridge and climb up to the stone tablet for Jutta Menzner and to "Teufelsloch". On your way you will find nice scenic view at some places.
The next goal is the hut on top of Schrock. You can see the summit in the southeast. Take the way north to N50° 30.496' E6° 59.543'. On the summit you will like to have a break and you can enjoy the view to Mayschoß.
Take the shortest way south to "Steinerberg" and enjoy another nice view when you get there. You may find "Steinberghaus" open and can get yourself another rest if you like.
Go back to N50° 30.002' E7° 01.128', but take the path to the right and go to "Antoniusruh" and further to another nice place with scenic view.
Walk downhill to the summit of "Schrock" again and take the steep path to the north and go down to "Teufelsley", where you can climb to the summit cross, if you like.
Follow the path to the north. On the way you will have some nice views of Burg Are. Soon you will be in the Ahrtal again. Cross the bridge and go to the first road tunnel of Prussia where you will find some high-level markers.
If you reach the starting point again, you will have hiked 10.5km and have put back, besides, about 600 metres upward. The pure walking time might amount from three to four hours.
Have fun!
