DE: Der Bahnhof Rolandseck in der Stadt Remagen, Stadtteil Rolandseck, wurde von 1856 bis 1858 gebaut. Sein Empfangsgebäude gilt als bedeutendes Kulturdenkmal der rheinischen Kunstgeschichte und des frühen deutschen Eisenbahnbaus.
2004 wurde der Bahnhof nach einer vorübergehenden Schließung als Haltepunkt des Schienenpersonennahverkehrs wieder eröffnet, er ist der nördlichste auf der linken Rheinstrecke in Rheinland-Pfalz. Hier halten Züge der Mittelrheinbahn Köln–Koblenz–Mainz und der Ahrtalbahn Bonn–Bad Neuenahr–Ahrbrück.
Seit dem 29. September 2007 ist das Empfangsgebäude Teil des Arp Museums Bahnhof Rolandseck. Direkt unterhalb des Bahnhofs liegt die Rheinfähre nach Bad Honnef.
Geschichte
Die Bonn-Cölner Eisenbahn eröffnete am 13. Februar 1844 die Strecke von Köln nach Bonn, Teil der späteren linken Rheinstrecke. Bereits 1846 hatte die Gesellschaft in Berlin darum nachgesucht, die Strecke bis Rolandseck erweitern zu dürfen. Das Finanzministerium hatte das Gesuch aus militärischen Gründen abgelehnt. Schließlich wurde 1853 durch „Allerhöchste Cabinets Ordre“ die vorläufige Genehmigung zum Weiterbau der Linie bis Rolandseck erteilt. Der neue Endpunkt sollte möglichst nah am Rhein sein, um ein bequemes Umsteigen auf die Dampfschiffe zu ermöglichen. Der Oberingenieur für den Bau der Linie fertigte auch die Grundrisse für den Bahnhof Rolandseck. Als Endpunkt der Linie wurde das Gebäude so ausgestaltet, dass man in ihm die Gesellschaftsversammlungen durchführen konnte. Denn Rolandseck war zu dieser Zeit mit dem sagenumwobenen Rolandswerther Rolandsbogen ein Inbegriff rheinischer Romantik. Der Bau begann 1856 und der Bahnhof wurde 1858 fertiggestellt.
Der Bahnhof Rolandseck wurde zum Treffpunkt der prominenten Gesellschaft, die hier von der Endstation der Privatbahn auf das Rheinschiff oder die Kutsche wechselte. Königin Victoria von Großbritannien, Kaiser Wilhelm II., Otto von Bismarck, Ludwig Uhland, Karl Simrock, die Brüder Grimm und Friedrich Nietzsche waren dort, außerdem die Musiker Johannes Brahms, Clara Schumann und Franz Liszt. Bernhard Shaw schrieb über den Bahnhof und Guillaume Apollinaire schrieb hier einen Teil seiner frühen Gedichte. Es gab viele Feste und Konzerte im alten Bahnhof.

EN: The Rolandseck train station in the town of Remagen, Rolandseck district, was built between 1856 and 1858. His reception building is regarded as an important cultural monument of the history of the Rhine and of early German railway construction.
In 2004, the station was reopened after a temporary closure as a stopover for local rail services. It is the northernmost on the left Rhine stretch in Rhineland-Palatinate. Here trains of the Mittelrheinbahn Köln-Koblenz-Mainz and the Ahrtalbahn Bonn-Bad Neuenahr-Ahrbrück hold.
Since 29 September 2007, the reception building has been part of the Arp Museum Bahnhof Rolandseck. Directly below the train station lies the Rhine ferry to Bad Honnef.

On February 13, 1844, the Bonn-Cölner railway opened the route from Cologne to Bonn, part of the later Rhine section of the Rhine. As early as 1846 the company in Berlin had asked to extend the route to Rolandseck. The Ministry of Finance had rejected the application for military reasons. Finally, in 1853, the "provisional Cabinet Ordre" issued the provisional permission to extend the line to Rolandseck.
