Alexander Sarda war promovierter Marine-Ingenieur und als Metallurge tätig. Ab 1953 konstruierte er Kunstobjekte aus Stahl und Aluminium. Die "Orchidee" wurde zur Bundesgartenschau 1971 im Rheinpark Köln aufgestellt.
Alexander Sarda was a promoted naval engineer and a metallurgist. From 1953 on he constructed art objects made out of steel and aluminum. The "Orchidee" was put up for the Federal Garden Show in 1971 in the Rheinpark in Cologne.
