A small, inconspicuous headstone of 1817 in Barmbek reminiscent of a terrible part of Hamburg's history.
In the French occupation of 1811 - 1814 many displaced people died from hunger, cold and epidemics. 50 of these unknown dead citizens were buried in a mass grave at this place in the former village Barmbeck.
