"A standing portrait of Philip Eckel dressed in his firefighter's uniform and holding a fire horn tucked under his proper left arm. The sculpture rests atop a square block with a fire department emblem on the south side, Masonic emblem on the west side, and fireman's star on the east side. The square block is placed atop a formal pedestal base with molded top, flat sided shaft with bull horns at the corners and a plaque on the south side. The monument base is moulded with a flat plinth and four fire hydrants at the corner of the plinth. On the back is a symbol and the words "UYTET GOMMER," and there is an eagle perched atop a shield on the right side. The entire monument rests on a square concrete foundation located in the center of an oval reflecting pool that is surrounded by a wrought or cast iron fence."
