For more than 85 years, the Hawn Hotel and the nearby Arcadia theater have occupied a prominent location in downtown Temple, and on Thursday, the abandoned structures got a shot of new life.

The Temple City Council reached an agreement with Criterion Management Group for the redevelopment of the structures.

Criterion plans to turn the Hawn into residential condos, as well as downtown retail space on the first floor, City Attorney Jonathan Graham said. The Arcadia will be a performing arts venue.
