History:
The USS Frank E. Evans was a Allen M. Sumner class destroyer that served from February 3rd, 1945 to July 1st, 1969. The ship earned 1 battle star for World War II and 5 battle stars in the Korean War.

In 1969 while in the area around Vietnam, the ship collided with the Australian carrier HMAS Melbourne, tearing the bow off the ship. 74 of the Evan's crew were killed in the collision.

The remained of the Frank E. Evans was taken and sunk for target practice in Subic Bay on October 10th, 1969.
