Nichée au coeur d'un joli hameau Yeuse (qui veut dire bois de chênes), cette chapelle de taille importante présente une architecture sobre en pierres blanches et toit en ardoises. L'intérieur est joliment décoré et les murs couverts de plus de 130 ex-voto.
[FR] La chapelle d’YEUSE fut érigée en 1886 par Adolphe BELLANGER et sa famille à la suite d’une demande de faveur auprès de la Sainte Vierge Notre Dame de Lourdes faite en 1877.
Consacrée solennellement le dimanche 2 Mai 1886 par le vénérable abbé Georges Bellanger (enterré à Moulle (62) dont le procès de béatification est en cours à Rome), la chapelle a longtemps été le lieu d’un pèlerinage et de procession à la Pentecôte.
La présence des nombreux ex-voto et remerciements témoignent de la ferveur des gens de la région envers cette chapelle qui est encore ouverte tous les jours.
En 2003, l’association des chapelles de Landrethun lez Ardres fut créée afin de contribuer à la sauvegarde et à l’entretien des lieux. Grâce au concours du Parc Naturel Régional des Caps et Marais d’Opale, de la Fondation du Patrimoine (aide directe et mise en place d’une souscription volontaire), du Conseil Régional Nord-Pas-de-Calais et de la municipalité de Landrethun-lez-Ardres, des travaux importants ont pu être entrepris : Toiture (2005), ravalement des façades (2009), aménagement paysager (2010)...
L’association mène des actions pour continuer à récolter des fonds et d’animer ce site qui fait partie de notre patrimoine local.
[EN] The Yeuse chapel was built in 1886 by Adolphe Bellanger and his family after a demand for intercession made to the Holy Virgin Our Lady of Lourdes in 1877.
Officially consecrated on Sunday the 2nd May 1886 by the venerable abbot Georges Bellanger (buried at Moulle in the Pas de Calais and whose beatification proceedings are in progress in Rome), the chapel has long been a destination for pilgrims and for Pentecost processions.
The presence of many ex-voto and thanks witness the fervour of the people of the region towards the chapel which is still open every day. In 2003, the Association of Chapels of Landrethun lez Ardres was created to contribute to the upkeep and maintenance of the site. Thanks to help from the Parc Naturel Régional des Caps et Marais d’Opale (Regional Nature Protection Park), from the Fondation du Patrimoine (National Trust) who gave direct help as well as organising voluntary contributions, from the Conseil Régional du Nord-Pas-de-Calais (Regional Council), and the village of Landrethun lez Ardres, extensive work has been possible: roofing (2005), structural restoration (2009) and surround landscaping (2010)...
The Association continues to organise activities to raise funds and sustain this site which is part of our local heritage.
