In the late 1800s, enterprising Leamingtonites took advantage of the new railroad in the area: They built charcoal kilns to process juniper (or cedar) trees into charcoal to ship to Salt Lake City. You can visit two of these big kilns just east of Leamington on highway 132 (near Delta).
