Right on the lake, Nakusp is blessed with a heaping helping of lake front. Near the eastern end of the town is the marina and the Nakusp Launch Club while, on the other end of town, is the municipal beach. With a broad expanse of fine sand and a southern exposure, this is a very nice, family friendly, beach. The swimming area off the beach is protected from boat traffic by a stretch of logs floating in the water. Though there is no shade at the beach, if the weather should happen to get a little too warm Nakusp Recreation Park, with lots of large trees, is just across the street.

In the middle of the beach is a volleyball net, the only recreational facility here. On the grass behind the beach are several benches for those who would prefer to watch rather than participate.

Sandy Beach
Our beautiful sandy beach is located in the downtown area – just a short walk from our shops and restaurants! Surrounded by green-spaces and gardens, shade trees and picnic tables, it is a perfect spot to while away an afternoon, or entertain the kids.

In the immediate vicinity you will find our downtown park which features the cenotaph, a public gazebo, washroom facilities, tennis courts, the skatepark, the Nakusp & District Sports Complex, the Rotary Play Park for small children, a designated Dog Beach, the Nakusp Municipal Campground, our beautiful Japanese Garden and the Nakusp Cemetery.
