This civil war memorial stands, along with a pair of other war memorials, in a small park near the northeast corner of the town of Lubec.

Dedicated on September 19, 1904, this memorial was crafted entirely of two types of granite, Quincy granite, Black Beaver Lake granite, possibly by Red Beach Granite Works. Atop the column of the monument stands a Civil War soldier dressed in full uniform, complete with musket. At the base of the monument are sculpted mortars at each corner.

On each side of the monument, both on the base and on the shaft, are inscriptions, which follow.

Soldiers' Monument
A full-length standing figure of a Civil War soldier dressed in uniform, with cap, knee-length coat, shoulder cape and belt, and baggy pants. He holds the barrel of a rifle in both hands, with butt end on the ground. He wears a moustache. He stands on a tiered rectangular base, with columns on each end. At each lower corner of the base is a sculpted Civil War era field mortar.
