"Durante siglos, hombres y naturaleza han modelado al sur de Mallorca, el onírico paisaje de las Salines d´Es Trenc. Un extenso circuito de balsas destinadas a incrementar la concentración de sal por litro de agua marina. A través de un canal, las aguas mediterráneas de la playa de Es Trenc, idóneas para la fabricación natural de cloruro sódico, nutren este paraíso para las aves, raro ejemplo de cómo la acción humana puede generar ecosistemas valiosos y dignos de protección.
Las salinas de Levante se renovaron en los años 40 y 50, y desde entonces han seguido usando técnicas tradicionales. La materia prima sigue siendo el agua de mar, y las fuentes de energía principales, son el sol y el viento."
