While this is a 'normal' cable-stayed suspension bridge, it is the Dedication of it that draws extra attention!

From the sign (either side of the Pedestrian Bridge): "This is a shared user path strictly for the use of pedestrians and cyclists. No wheeled recreational devices, motor driven bicycles or motorised skateboards are allowed on the shared user path.
"* Cyclists must give way to pedestrians at all times.
"* All dogs are to be on a leash at all times."

A plaque on the Gosford end reads:
"The Spike Milligan Bridge
'Named after Spike Milligan, a well known identity in comedy and the theatre'
"Spike Milligan gained worldwide recognition through his creative input and starring role in the long running 1950s and 60s BBC radio comedy series, 'The Goon Show'. He was a frequent visitor to Woy Woy where his parents lived.

"It is fitting that cycleway bridge be named in Spike's honour, as he developed a series of bike safety books for the NSW Roads and Traffic Authority in 1983. To see these books and more visit the Spike Milligan Room within the Woy Woy Library, 1200 ahead on Blackwall Road.

"It is an award winning design by the local bridge designer, Jim Alexander. The bridge is 25.8 metres above sea level at its highest point and 85 metres in length.

"This plaque was unveiled by the Mayor of Gosford City, Councillor Jim Macfadyen, and the Milligan family on Saturday, 29 March 2008"
