The Heinz History Center is named for the late Senator John Heinz who was killed in a plane crash in 1991. The museum is more than 275,000 square feet of banquet and exhibit space covering six floors. The museum documents the history of Pennsylvania from Lewis and Clark who keel boats were built near here to Pittsburgh Native Fred Rogers who welcomed generations of children to Mr. Rogers Neighborhood. The Heinz History Center is also home to the Western Pennsylvania Sports Museum, which features exhibits from the Negro Leagues to the World Championships captured by the Steelers, Pirates and Penguins.
