Updated November 2020.
The church was destroyed in an arson fire in 2019. In February, 2020 approval was obtained for the church to be rebuilt, commencing summer, 2020. Covid-19 has delayed all of that.
St James Church was built in 1863 at a cost of $800, on donated land. It has conducted services since that time.
The stained glass was installed in 1886, and the massive church bell, slightly smaller than the famous Liberty Bell in Philadelphia, was donated in 1925. The donation marked the centennial of the donating families' ancestors arrival in Canada.
Since then the church has undergone several renovations and additions, the last being the installation of indoor plumbing in 1987.
there is an active cemetery co-located with the church.
