Das Schloss wurde erstmals im 13. Jahrhundert erwähnt und war damals im Besitz der Familie von Pomßen. In den folgenden Jahrhunderten wechselte der Besitz mehrfach. Das Schloss mitsamt des Vorwerkes wurde 1551 zum Rittergut erhoben. Ebenfalls im 16. Jahrhundert wurde die ehemalige Wasserburg zu einem Schloss umgebaut. Ein weiteres Mal wurde das Schloss Anfang des 19. Jahrhundert umgebaut und erhielt dabei seine heutige Erscheinungsform im Stil der englischen Tudorgotik.
Das Schloss ist äußerlich saniert und steht in einem gepflegten Landschaftspark. Leider sind sowohl das Schloss als auch der Park im Privatbesitz und können nicht betreten werden.

The castle was mentioned for the first time in the 13th century and was then owned by the Familie von Pomßen. In the following centuries the property changed several times. The castle including the Vorwerk was raised into a manor in 1551. Also in the 16th century the former water castle was converted into a castle. Once again the castle was rebuilt at the beginning of the 19th century, and its present appearance was in the style of the English Tudor architecture.
The castle is renovated and stands in a well-kept landscape park. Unfortunately both the castle and the park are private and can not be entered.
