Also known as the Camp McCoy Cemetery, Lafayette cemetery's first recorded grave was in 1863. The most recent interment according to records was in 2012, though no grave stone is visible for this burial. Prior to that the last one was in 1920. In the 1940's, the US government purchased land North of Wisconsin Highway 21 in order to build a what is now known as North Post Fort McCoy to support training troops for WWII. This cemetery just off of Buckley Court was already there and the Army built around it to build that part of post. Now the cemetery is located on Fort McCoy land that is open to the public. Just North of 21 off Buckley Court going towards Whitetail Ridge Ski Area and Pineview Campground is where you will find this cemetery fenced in with a white picket fence. There is a place to park on the side of the street opposite from the cemetery entrance. There are three main clusters of grave stones inside the fence line, but it looks like there could be some unmarked graves as well. There's around 17 visible headstones but per find a grave 19 interments are on these grounds and per USGenWeb there are 19 as well, though they do not share the same names. Between the two sites there are 20 recorded interments at least. The one from 2012 is most likely one of the unmarked graves there. There is also rumors that there are some WWII POW's who are buried on site though no records can be found.
