[FR] Pendant la bataille de Caen, l’église est presque totalement détruite pendant les bombardements aériens. Pendant la reconstruction, les vestiges sont sécurisés et le site est aménagé en jardin public. Le transfert des dommages de guerre de l’église Saint-Gilles permet de construire l’église Saint-Paul au nord de la ville.
[EN] The church was almost completely destroyed during the battle of Caen by aerial bombardements. During the reconstruction of the city, the vestiges were stablized and the site was turned into a public park. The rubble was used to build Saint-Paul church north of the city.
