Started in 1939 by Mel and Gerry Foss, Foss Locker Plant started serving the Sparta area primarily as frozen locker storage. As the business grew in 1960 it was purchased by Bill Thurston and two long time employees, Jerry and Dick Laxton. The three known as LLT ran the business for the next 40 years butchering beef, pork, and venison. In 1999, long time cattleman Wayne Selbrede purchased the shop and Bill and Jerry remained teaching the trade while Dick retired. In 2013 the business was purchased Travis Brooks and Mark Wells became the new owners using the same recipes and techniques used by the owners of the past. Today the locker plant is a full service meat market and deli. Parking is right next to the business.
