This bench sits in Norwalk Village Park and is dedicated to a man who served as a professor in Poland and Kyrgyzstan and was the leader for two US Department of International Development in five nations of Central Asia.

The life of John D. Dreier is one of a short yet much lived life. He was born in the small town of Sparta, WI in 1951 and spent time as an educator and consultant in nations around the world from Central Asia to Europe. He served the US Department of International Development in Central Asia and was a consultant in Poland, Romania, Russia, China, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan. In the Norwalk area he became the CEO for Community State Bank of Norwalk. He also headed the Greater Norwalk Area Development Corporation. He was also big in local arts and was a past president-elect of the La Crosse Symphony Orchestra. He passed away on September 1, 2009. The bench is a wood carved bench sitting under a small tree near Moore Creek.
