These two look like they are coming directly from hell. They are placed on the pillars of the gate to a building. Their purpose may have been to scare people coming through the village and keep them away from the house. The sculptures are made from basalt. This volcanic kind of stone is very common in the Eifel. The height of the dogs is about 35 cm. The building they are placed in front of was built in the 18th century, and the statues were made in same era.
Breed: Unknown

Date Built: 18th century
