"The Cultural Centre of Viana do Castelo | Coliseum was designed by architect Eduardo Souto Moura, recently awarded the Pritzker Prize, and is housed in a new area of ??the city that still comprises the administrative buildings and Freedom Square designed by the architect Fernando Távora, and the Municipal Library designed by Álvaro Siza Vieira .This space, designed for cultural and sporting municipal and supra-municipal events, has a construction area of ??3,792 square meters with 70.1 meters of compliance, 54.1 meters wide and 9.12 meters high. Situated along the river Lima, is prepared to host large events such as music festivals, concerts, theater, conferences, exhibitions and fairs.The capacity of the equipment is about two thousand, the number could increase to 2700 in the case of music concerts in which assists in walking. For conferences and shows, it has a stage with 15 by 5 meters, with a length of up to 15 by 15 meters, according to the specific needs of each event.The project also highlights the main entrance on the north and south tops, a wide and permeable inner vision with access over the river Lima, in particular on the entrance floor, coated glass. Outside features a grassed area and car parking.With various valences, the building is located in a privileged area of ??the riverfront and is the new cultural centrality of the Alto Minho. It was inaugurated on July 14, 2013 and since that day it has received great spectacles, almost always sold out."
