The hand prints are organised by NETIA Off Camera, an annual independent film maker festival held in Krakow.
This plaque was laid in 2015 to commemorate Claudia Cardinale.
"I’ve always thought that scandals and confessions are not necessary to be an actress. I’ve never shown my soul or body in films. Mysteriousness is very important – she mentioned in the interviews. By avoiding nudity, she won the position of one of the greatest Italian sex symbols of the '60s. One of the most important films in her career is Eight and a Half by Federico Fellini. She starred in Luchino Visconti’s Rocco and His Brothers and The Leopard. She also played in Werner Herzog’s Fitzcarraldo. The audience remember her also for the role in a Western Once Upon a Time in the West. Cardinale also appeared in the comedy by Blake Edwards The Pink Panther, playing alongside Peter Sellers, in the leading role.
In 1993, during the Festival in Venice, Cardinale received an honorary Golden Lion for her creative work as well as an honorary Golden Bear at the Berlin Festival. She is also the UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador.
She’s been appearing on the big screen continuously since 1958. Today, she has to her credit more than 90 films. In Krakow, we’ll see the latest production with her participation Ultima fermata. The screening will take place in the framework of ITALIAN DAYS at the 8th PKO OFF CAMERA! Together with Italian Institute and Apulia Film Commission, we’d like to invite you for the film screenings: La Prima Neve (dir. Andrea Segre), Bertolucci on Bertolucci (dir. Luca Guadagnino, Walter Fasano), Black Souls (dir. Francesco Munzi), In grazia di Dio (dir. Edoardo Winspear)."
