This is a cemetery memorial to honor the men from North Canton who served in the Civil War.

On the May 2nd 1864, Company E of the 162nd Ohio Volunteer Infantry (O.V.I.) was called to serve at Camp Chase in Covington, Kentucky. These men originally enlisted as part of the 45th O.V.I. which merged with the 162nd Ohio National Guard. The men were from Lake, Jackson, and Plain Townships in Stark County Ohio. Twenty of these men are interred here in North Canton Cemetery which was originally named Zion Cemetery. Those buried here are: Michael Bitzer, Israel Carpenter, Elias Druckenbrod, Jeremiah Druckenbrod, Obediah Druckenbrod, Henry C. Firestone, George W. Hill, Daniel R. Holl, Henry C. Holl, Jacob Holl, Daniel Hossler, Hiram B. Hossler, Urias Mohler, Henry Schlott, Ephraim Schrantz, Samuel Schrantz, Emanuel C. Sheets, John J. Shook, Samuel Stark, Christian Stoner, Henry Stoner, Francis Surbey, Urias Wiedler, and Samuel Willamen. The monument was dedicated May 30th, 1911.
