Tule Springs Fossil Beds National Monument was established on 19 December, 2014. It is the 405th unit of the NPS.

The area has long been of archaeological significance. Since the mid 1930's there have been findings of mammals from the ice age, including the Columbian Mammoth, extinct horses, camels and bison, and the dire wolf.

Sadly, as civilization has continued its ever-increasing encroachment, more and more of these finds were found, buried, destroyed or otherwise harmed.

Finally, Congress approved the establishment of a 35 square mile Monument to protect what remains of these treasures. As of now, there are still no Visitor resources available. However, those wanting to visit can do so by accessing the area on foot. Easiest point (and where the coords take you) is off Alliante Parkway and Horse Drive in North Las Vegas.

The website contains an overview map, as well as contact numbers and addresses.

For those so inclined the National Park Passport Cancellation is held at the Lake Mead National Recreation Visitor Center on US 93 outside of Boulder City.
