In June of 1987, Carl Seamster was flying out of Bloyer Airfield in Tomah, WI. His plane crashed at the airfield and he and his 9 year old son, Johan, passed away in the crash. They were both Sparta residents and this memorial was erected just outside of St John's Evangelical Lutheran School. The memorial is in a garden setting with flags.
