SPAT No 1 Reference Mark - Sparta, WI - U.S. Benchmarks on Waymarking.com

This disk is in amazing shape. It was set as one of two reference marks for a nearby benchmark. It's just off of the Sparta-La Crosse Bike Trail near Black River Street. The best way to get to this disk is to park at the Sparta Chamber of Commerce (The old Depot) at 111 Milwaukee Street and take the Sparta-La Crosse Bike Trail Southwest towards Black River Street. Right before you get to the overpass you will see an old gate on your left which marks a snowmobile route. To the left of the gate is a fence line where you can spot the old metal witness post a few yards in. Be careful of the thorns as there are many of them. The disk itself is in great shape and is very legible.
