"Gegenüber der 1780 erbauten Stadtwache stand einst das Rathaus von Ahrweiler, das im Jahr 1797 abgebrochen wurde. Bis zum Neubau des Rathauses war die Verwaltung in der Stadtwache untergebracht. Danach diente die Stadtwache als Geschäfts- und Wohnhaus. Heute ist in dem Gebäude Sion's Fischfachgeschäft untergebracht.
Architektur
Der zweigeschossige Spätrokokobau mit geschiefertem Mansarddach, vom Baumeister Johann Georg Leydel erbaut, besitzt an seiner Schmalseite drei und an seiner Langseite fünf Achsen. Der Putzbau ist durch Pilaster in Haustein gegliedert. Über dem Portal befindet sich ein reicher Trophäenaufbau mit dem Wappen der Stadt Ahrweiler. Das Mansarddach besetzt einen gesprengten Giebel mit ovalem Fenster. Über der Seitentür der Langseite wurde ein älterer Schlussstein mit der Jahreszahl 1566 verwendet, der das Wappen von Ahrweiler zeigt. "
