RWE und Künstlergemeinschaft Augstmühle sorgen für bemalte Stromstationen in der Innenstadt

Mayen. Vorbei die Zeit der grauen, langweiligen Stromkästen rund um die Innenstadt von Mayen: In den vergangenen Monaten wurden 20 RWE-Stromverteilerschränke in der Mayener Innenstadt zu individuellen und kreativen Kunstwerken umgestaltet. Wie sie das Ortsbild originell aufwerten können, demonstriert der Koblenzer Künstler Christian Leger gemeinsam mit jungen Kursteilnehmern der Jugendkunstschule. Der Künstler betont: „Das Schöne an Kunst in freiem Raum ist, dass man das Umfeld mit einbeziehen kann.“

Oberbürgermeister Wolfgang Treis unterstützte die Aktion und sagt: „Damit sich die funktional nüchternen Stationen besser in das Stadtbild einfügen, entstand die Idee, sie künstlerisch zu gestalten. Hierbei wird nicht nur unsere Innenstadt rund um den Marktplatz verschönert und somit lebens- und liebenswerter gemacht. Wir werben auch für das Alte Arresthaus als Treffpunkt für Kunst und Kultur.“

Auch RWE-Kommunalbetreuer Michael Dötsch, Leiter der Region Rauschermühle, freute sich über die gelungene Umsetzung. RWE fördert das Projekt und stellt die Verteiler-schränke zum Bemalen und Gestalten zur Verfügung. Die Kosten für die Materialien übernimmt der Energieversorger ebenfalls. Dazu Michael Dötsch: „Künstlerisches Können sollte möglichst früh geschult und gefördert werden. Besonders spannend ist Kunst im Alltag gerade an solchen Orten, wo man gar nicht damit rechnet.“
