The Village of Fruitvale is located in southern British Columbia’s beautiful West Kootenays. Fruitvale is the "Heart of the Beaver Valley".

Fruitvale is the hometown of 2003 NHL Rookie of the Year Barrett Jackman, 1996 NHL Stanley Cup winner Adam Deadmarsh and World Cup Skier Diana (Dee Dee) Haight.

Fruitvale is a "sports minded" community offering opportunities for hockey, baseball, soccer, cross country skiing, snowmobiling, fishing, boating, camping, golf and many more outdoor activities.

Fruitvale offers clean air, spectacular natural scenery and friendly people.

Fruitvale was originally named Beaver Siding in 1893 as a railway stop for the Nelson and Fort Sheppard Railway (later acquired by the Great Northern Railroad). In 1906, Fruitvale Limited purchased a great deal of land on both sides of this stop and changed the name to Fruitvale in a bid to attract settlement in the area. Although the community is over 100 years old, Fruitvale was formally incorporated as a Village on November 4, 1952. Fruitvale has now blossomed into a bedroom community of approximately 2000 people, offering a small town, rural setting with many services and amenities for residents who work and play throughout the region.

Fruitvale is a full service community with retail, grocery, medical and dental clinics, pharmacy, veterinary services, service stations and post office in a compact, pleasant downtown centre. There are several parks and playgrounds, baseball complex, soccer fields, arena and all season sport courts.
