In Acton, within the Acton Arboretum, is this stone horse trough with the year "1878."
the Acton Arboretum is located along Mass. Route 27, a half mile north of Mass. Route 2 and south of the town center. There is a sign for the arboretum at the intersection with Taylor Street. Turn onto Taylor Street, and drive south to the entrance on the left. The kiosk is at the edge of the parking lot. There is no admission fee.
The trough is in a garden area in the center of a circle. It is about 30 in. x 30 in. x 60 in. On one side is engraved:
"H. C. L.
1878"
