The Battlefield Line Railway is a heritage railway in Leicestershire. It runs from Shackerstone to Shenton, via Market Bosworth, a total of 5 miles (8.0 km). Shenton is near Bosworth Field, giving the railway its name.

"The Battlefield Line is the last remaining part of the former Ashby and Nuneaton Joint Railway which was opened in 1873. It runs from Shackerstone via Market Bosworth to Shenton in Leicestershire and is operated by the Shackerstone Railway Society.
Shackerstone Station is at the northern end of the line, and is the headquarters of the railway with museum, Victorian tea room souvenir shop, loco shed and main rolling stock located here. There is ample free parking, and the Ashby Canal is just a stones throw away.
Our remarkable railway captures the very essence of a country line, with steam, diesel and railcar train services along with small stations meandering along a single track line. It really does convey something of the feeling and atmosphere of heady days past.
For anyone who retains a sense of nostalgia for times gone by, you’ll be pleasantly surprised at this place - one of Leicestershire’s best kept secrets, not just a train ride but a journey into history as well."

"Once the guard blows his whistle, the train leaves on its five mile journey heading for Shenton Station, running for most of the way alongside the Ashby Canal, meandering its way past small villages and farms to the newly re-opened Market Bosworth Station. For anyone arriving here by road, there’s a large station car park next to the Goods Shed, off Station Road. As your train departs for Shenton Station, look out on the right for the station’s signal box (undergoing restoration) - these structures were once a regular feature every few miles on all rail lines in the UK.
The award-winning Shenton Station is the southern terminus of the line and the platform building you see once stood at Humberstone Road, Leicester, from where it was demolished and transported to Shenton and re-built, brick by brick. Opposite the platform, there is a large station car park containing a building which is the last original part of Shenton Station - this now houses a pottery business.
As you walk down the platform you will find a small refreshment room and ticket office. At this point the locomotive uncouples and runs around its train. You can have a chat with the engine crew and if you’re lucky they may let you have a quick look around inside the locomotive cab.

Close by Shenton Station is the Bosworth Battlefield site.
Within Shenton Station is also Richard Golding’s Glassmaking studio and shop, where visitors can often see him at work.
Across the car park is another building this now houses a pottery business, where you can often see the potter working."
