The Republic Post Office is the largest in the county. A friendly and helpful staff member assisted with mailing a package for us. Cost less than $5.00 USD mailing from the US to the US arriving in two days. The reason I compare this is because if I mailed the same package in Canada it would have cost over $30.00 CAD and in addition the package from Canada would take almost three weeks for delivery due to passing through the US customs.
The Republic Post Office is a nice size building and well maintained. It was dedicated in 1961. The plaque is close to the entrance on your left. It also has a 666 mailbox. The current population of Republic is 1,083 as of 2013.
Republic is the county seat for Ferry County and has a beautiful Art Deco courthouse, city offices and several murals depicting how life was during the mining boom.
Republic offers tourists and locals an abundance of opportunities to emerge oneself in the local history. Visit Stonerose Interpretive Center and explore the Eocene Fossil Site, learn about the mining boom that played a major role in the development of the area at the museum. Just a short distance NW from the post office is what remains of the Knob Hill Mine that produced more than $10,000,000 worth of gold by the end of 1951.
