Der Erzengel Michael:
Michael ist ein Erzengel und kommt in den Traditionen des Judentums, Christentums und Islams vor. Im Christentum gilt Michael als der Bezwinger des Teufels in Gestalt eines Drachens sowie als Anführer der Himmlischen Heerscharen. Außerdem kommt Michael in der kirchlichen Tradition die Rolle des "Seelenwägers" am Tag des jüngsten Gerichts zu. Michael ist neben Gabriel, Raphael und Uriel einer der vier Erzengel.
Der Erzengel Michael ist Patron verschiedenster Städte und Regionen (u.a. Deutschlands im Allgemeinen) sowie verschiedener Berufsgruppen (wie der Schweizer Polizei).
Darstellung an der Michaeliskirche:
Die Statue zeigt den Erzengel Michael mit Schwert in der rechten Hand und Eisernem Kreuz auf der Brust. Unter ihm liegt ein drachenähnliches Wesen. Die Darstellung erinnert an den 'Höllensturz' (visit link):
"Und es erhob sich ein Streit im Himmel: Michael und seine Engel stritten mit dem Drachen; und der Drache stritt und seine Engel, und siegten nicht, auch ward ihre Stätte nicht mehr gefunden im Himmel. Und es ward ausgeworfen der große Drache, die alte Schlange, die da heißt der Teufel und Satanas, der die ganze Welt verführt, und ward geworfen auf die Erde, und seine Engel wurden auch dahin geworfen." (Offb 12,7-9)
Die Michaeliskirche ist ein dem Erzengel Michael gewidmeter evangelischer Kirchenbau aus der Zeit der Wende vom 19. zum 20. Jahrhundert.

The Archangel Michael:
Michael is an archangel and occurs in the traditions of Judaism, Christianity and Islam. In Christianity, Michael is considered the conqueror of the devil in the shape of a dragon and as a leader of the Heavenly Host. In addition, Michael takes in the Church's tradition, the role of "Seelenwägers" on the day of judgment to. Michael is next to Gabriel, Raphael and Uriel one of the four archangels.

The statue shows the archangel Michael with sword in his right hand and the iron cross on the chest. Under him is a dragon-like creature. The presentation is reminiscent of the 'War in Heaven' (visit link):
"And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels going out to the fight with the dragon; and the dragon and his angels made war, and they were overcome, and there was no more place for them in heaven. And the great dragon was forced down, the old snake, who is named the Evil One and Satan, by whom all the earth is turned from the right way; he was forced down to the earth, and his angels were forced down with him."
