Renswoude with this population of the smallest municipality in the province of Utrecht, and moreover one of the smallest municipalities in the Netherlands. The population has grown over the last decade by more than 8%. In this same period, there occurred a growth of well over 8% in the whole province; Renswoude thus has an average growth rate. This growth has not been determined gradually gone; to 1995 was the population around 3700 and then suddenly jump was made towards the 4,000 inhabitants. This was mainly due to the realization of the new district Spik Horst, in 1995.
