Texola is the last town in Oklahoma as you travel towards Texas on Route 66. Most of the Town is completely abandoned, the tiny Jail has not been used for decades, now a roadside attraction, in this virtual ghost town of Texola, Oklahoma.

The tiny one cell Jail, a quirky roadside attraction, one of the many oddball sights you stumble across as you get your kicks on 66.
The former Jail, & former Museum, with a totally out of place stone slab engraved with the Class of 39, which lies abandoned, like most of the Town.
I have added extra photos in the gallery, showing some of the Ghost Town buildings, so you get a feel for the area, alongside the Mother Road.
Route 66 is just not gonna to die, when you have Towns with a sense of humour & soul, like Texola.
Perhaps a chance to put your other half, behind bars for a photo opportunity.
"Texola – Ghosttown - The last town on the Route 66 in Oklahoma, on the border to Texas. This small town has 30 residents at most. A part of the place is completely abandoned. In the 1910s 300 people lived in Texola, formerly called Texokla, then Texoma and today finally Texola.
A tiny building, the former Jail, standing all alone in a nearly abandoned ghost town. Propped in front is an out-of-place memorial to the high school Class of 1939." Text Sources: (
