"In August 1857 Dr Vaughan preached a sermon to School in St Wystan's Parish Church about the importance in the life of a school of a private chapel- "a sanctuary of its own, dedicated to its exclusive use as a little section of the Universal Church of Christ". In 1858, under the Headmastership of Dr Pears, the present site was obtained and the foundation stone was laid by Lord Howe on August 26th. And so began the Chapel we now know so well.

Each generation has brought new improvements to the fabric of the building. In 1867 an apse was added, in 1880 the nave was extended and stained glass windows installed and in 1904 an organ screen was erected in memory of the Reptonians who fell in the Boer War. We continue that same devotion to Chapel today. In 2007 new altar frontals were commissioned which add a rich colour and vitality to the Sanctuary. These, along with a new Tabernacle, were dedicated by the Bishop of Gloucester during our 450th anniversary celebrations."
