This 1904 house in the Denton County Historical Park was relocated from the Quakertown neighborhood, an African American community, north of the downtown square.
Quakertown was named to honor the abolitionist Quakers who assisted fleeing southern slaves traveling the Underground Railroad. By the 1910s, the community housed over fifty families and businesses. The community was razed in the 1920s to build the Denton Civic Center Park.
The award-winning museum is the archive for Dr. Edwin Moten's medical supplies, the city's first black doctor.
