The clock face has the date 1679 carved over it and it is assumed that is the year the original clock was installed.

The clock face is sqaure and appears to be carved in stone. The four corners of the face have carved detail that is picked out in gold with a blue background. Two circles, the outer of which touches the edges of the clock face, are also coloured gold. The hour marks are contained between the circles. They are also coloured gold and have a blue background. Gold coloured sun rays, one for each hour, emanate from the centre of the clock face to the inner of the two gold rings. The hands, also coloured gold, are a simple design with the minute hand having a tail.
